Turkish actor, Can Yaman was awarded the prestigious Murex d’Or Best Actor Award for his performance as Can Divit in the Turkish TV series Erkenci Kus (Early Bird). The event was held in Beirut, Lebanon on April 6, 2019. Delivering his acceptance speech in English with closing remarks in Arabic, he thanked his friends, family, and his on-screen partner, Demet Ozdemir. Demet received the Murex d’Or Best Actress Award for her performance in the series in the role of Sanem Aydin.
The Murex d’Or (also known as the Golden Murex Award) is a Lebanese award created by Lebanese physicians, Zahi and Fadi Helou to recognize achievements in the domain of art in Lebanon, the Arab region, and the world. The first Murex d’Or ceremony took place on June 4, 2000. The name of the award is a tribute to Phoenician Murex which was used to dye cloth in imperial Tyrian purple.

Over the past year, Can Yaman has won numerous other notable awards. Can was named GQ Turkey Man of the Year in 2018 and received the Rising Star Award February 13, 2019. He was also awarded Best Actor in Pantene Golden Butterfly Awards/Altin Kelebek Award (Erkenci Kus) in December 9, 2018 in the Comedy & Romantic Comedy Drama category. The Altın Kelebek (Golden Butterfly) is the name of a series of awards that are handed out to the most successful names in the worlds of TV and music. Introduced 42 years ago, the annual Altın Kelebek award ceremony is regarded as the most prestigious and influential event in its class.
